TPE super-soft material infusion process and its advantages and disadvantages

One. TPE perfusion concept

TPE infusion is a method of molding super soft TPE materials. The TPE material with a hardness of 0~15A or a softer hardness of 00 or 0000 can be processed by pouring (or casting, pouring).

 

Two. TPE infusion process

1. Mix of raw materials.

Prior to infusion of TPE raw materials, the raw materials should be mixed together according to the formula proportion (usually SEBS and oil and other necessary functional aids). This mixing process usually takes 2 to 3 days. However, granular materials are also used as raw materials for infusion.

2. Melting equipment.

The heating of the TPE is relatively simple in principle, as long as it is heated to the melting temperature of the material. However, the temperature of the control should be kept as constant as possible during heating. The temperature change or difference may cause the difference in the fluidity of the material and affect the processing quality of the product (such as product glossiness and transparency, etc.). Melt-adhesive equipment can be heated by electric heating pots, and heating devices similar to screw-shaped ones can also be used. Materials can be added to the hoppers and fully melted and plasticized by heating the sheet devices.

3. Heat melting of the material.

The mixed TPE material (usually a paste-like viscous material) is poured into the above-mentioned melter device and melted by heating. The material should be fully melted to ensure the physical properties and appearance of the finished product. General melt temperature varies from 130 to 200 degrees. The temperature of SEBS mixture materials with different molecular weights is different, and it should be gradually adjusted according to actual processing conditions.

4. Infusion molding of the material.

The melted TPE material is a transparent viscous liquid. To ensure its fluidity, it should be immediately poured into a previously prepared mold. The mold should be clean and the surface smooth to ensure the appearance of the product. When pouring, care should be taken to prevent or reduce air entrapment in the material and avoid bubbles in the product.

 

Three. TPE super soft material injection and injection molding analysis

TPE Infusion: Can process 0 to 15 degrees or even softer TPE material. Can process different shapes and sizes of products. Convenient processing, the disadvantage is that the temperature control of the melted plastic is not easy to control, and bubbles and rhyolites are prone to occur when a large product is poured and molded. TPE injection: can be processed 0 to 15 degrees TPE material, too soft TPE material is not suitable for injection molding, one is not suitable for sliver granulation, and then because the particles are more viscous, slower cutting, affecting production capacity. Injection molding is not suitable for processing large-size supersoft products.

 

IV. TPE infusion process application

TPE infusion process can be used to produce soft models, medical products, soft rubber cushions, shock absorption products, sex toys and so on.
